Both Beck (Butters2015) and Cowan (Cowan2013) say that Wilber is misinterpreting and distorting the § Spiral Dynamics.
Points of disagreement:
Wilber is taking the colors/typology but largely ignores the rest of Spiral Dynamics.
Graves is more than intervals and typology. The essence of his point of view is the quest for the engine that drives human emergence – why we are and what leads us to change to be something different. The types and categories are merely artifacts of that process. —Cowan2013
While I did some work with Wilber, that all began to wane six years ago [~2002] because of his constant distortion of the Spiral Dynamics/Gravesian model. —Beck’s answer to When dynamics spiral out of control – Dr Graham Wilson - 'The Confidant'
too much spiritualism
My friend Ken wouldn’t even talk to me about it because he had such adversity to anything that is not spirit based. —Beck in Fresh Perspective: Spiral Interventions with Dr. Don Beck - Integral Leadership Review
Beck and Cowan criticize Integral Theory because of over-attachment to Spiral Dynamics (though it does not actually address critique)
