instruction:

  1. Let whatever happens happen.
  2. As soon as you’re aware of an intention to control your attention, drop the intention.

Caveats:

  • you must not monitor for intentions
  • “whatever happens” may include monkey-mind, sleepiness, etc.
  • “drop” doesn’t mean “get rid of.” If you cannot get rid of an intention, that means it’s not fully free will—you don’t have to drop it.
