Maslow’s hierarchy is often depicted as a pyramid, which assumes that higher levels come into play only when lower-level needs are satisfied.
However, the pyramid does not appear in Maslow’s original work. Maslow acknowledged the likelihood that the different levels of needs might occur at any time.
