10,000 hours rule is a common myth. There is nothing magical about 10,000 hours.

It’s just an average number of hours best violinists had by the age of 20 (Ericsson…₁₉₉₃). Malcolm Gladwell has likely misread the paper (or just adjusted to make a nice theory).

But, § Deliberate Practice does exist.
